Marling, is a small town on the westside of Meran. Marling combines the the typical life in an idyllic village with a great mountain experience which is also close to the next big city Meran. Marling is perfect to explore the entire Burggrafenamt. Whether with car or with public transport, in Marling you have lots of possibilities for great trips!
Meran
The spa town of Meran is known for its spas and its Art Nouveau buildings. There are many great hiking trails in Meran. It´s also famous for the gardens of Trauttmansdorff and Meran 2000 ski area, the city of Meran offers great possibilities for everyone. Even when the weather is bad Meran still has a lot to offer, such as the thermal baths or shopping under the historical famous “Laubengasse” or you could also pay a visit at the interesting museums or various markets.
You can easily reach the city by bike or by foot. The connections with public transport are ideal. Which means the great possibilities Meran has to offer are only a foot step away.

Marling offers a lot of different hiking tours. There are very relaxed hiking tours with a beautiful view over the Burggrafenamt, as well as longer and more difficult hiking tours, such as a hike to our local mountain Vigiljoch.
Here are some great examples for beautiful hiking trails which await you in Marling:
The Marlinger Waalweg, as seen here in the picture, extends from the Töll to Lana. It is around 12 km long, making it the longest Waalweg in all of South Tyrol. A small, quiet stream runs along the relatively flat footpath. If you need a break, there are plenty of great seating options and taverns to relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape.
If you decide to take a more demanding walk, the Marlinger Höhenweg is just the right choice for that. It is located just above the Waalweg and offers a wonderful view of the Burggrafenamt. The trail starts from the town center of Marling and covers a distance of 11 km and 410 meters in altitude. The duration of this route is around 4:30 hours.
The wine culture trail is 4 km long and leads along roads with little traffic. The path shows you a piece of the wine history in South Tyrol and leads you to some beautiful and historical places in Marling. The starting point of the hike is the church square in Marling. On the way you will find some objects from the viticulture. The trail leads past the Meran cellar cooperative until you are back in the center of the village. The path is very interesting for wine lovers but also for those who are not, because it not only offers you an insight into South Tyrolean wine culture, but also places with a wonderful view over Meran.
The Town has also a lot to offer for those who want to get to know the Marling festival culture. From traditional village festivals, smaller events with drinks and music, to performances by the famous "Goaßlschnöller".

From skiing and snowboarding to bob sleigh and cross-country skiing, the Meran 2000 ski area offers winter sports fans a great stay and numerous opportunities in the snow. Meran 2000 is not only a must see in the winter days but also in summer Meran 2000 offers great hiking routes, delicious food and also a unique summer toboggan run.
The gardens of the castle Trauttmansdorff in Meran extends over an area of 12 hectares in the form of a natural amphitheater over a height difference of 100 meters. This opens up a stunning view over the exotic garden landscapes as well as breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the spa city of Meran.
The Meran thermal baths offer you relaxation and well-being even when there is bad weather outside. With 15 pools and 8 saunas and steam baths, including a South Tyrolean organic hay sauna, there surly must be something for you.
